This is what I made today. It’s a moisturizer.
Shea butter, jojoba oil, vitamin E, cornstarch and lavender essential oil.
It is super soft and luxurious… but I think it is a little too heavy to be a daily moisturizer.
It’s more of a night cream.
That smells heavenly.
The cost was about $4 and it made twice as much as my $60 store bought stuff.
I will try again.
When I get a new blender. Mine died today mid batch.
R.I.P. $2 thrift store immersion blender.
I’ve been wanting to try my hand at solid perfume.
I want something not flowery and not fruity and not lemon-pledgey.
This one is a mix of Bergamot Mint, Pink Grapefruit, Mandarin, Clove and Sweet Orange.
It is rustic and earthy and spicy.
1 tsp beeswax • 1 tsp apricot oil • 1 tsp jojoba oil • 40 drops essential oil
Melt the wax. (I used a small glass dish set in a pan of hot water.)
Add oils. (I found it helpful to add the apricot and jojoba oils as the wax was melting.)
Add scent. (Add in essential oils after you’ve removed it from the heat.)
Pour into tin. (I used a mini Altoid tin.)
I’m trying a new deodorant recipe.
I love my old one, but it is nice to try new things too.
I left out the probiotics because, I didn’t have any.
I gave it a manly scent with Bergamot Mint, Mandarin, Sweet Orange and Clove.
It smells divine.
I tried out Soulemama’s peppermint lip balm.
It is quite lovely and feels good on my lips.
I love that it is all natural too.
I’ve made the vaseline kinds before and they don’t feel as nice.
I added some natural lip tinting stuff that I happened to have on hand.
Next time, I’d leave it out. It doesn’t need it.
I put it in these tiny little paint pots from the dollar store.
Next time, I want a bit bigger container.
There will be a next time.
Yesterday I ran out of deodorant.
The last batch I made for myself was 7 1/2 months ago.
That’s quite a long time for one little batch to last.
I made a new batch last night. Is it worth it to make your own?
This deodorant really is awesome.
1. You can make it in 5 minutes.
2. You can make it what ever scent you like. (I prefer citrus scents.)
3. It works for a full 24 hours.
4. I’ve never had a problem with stink. (Unlike other natural deodorants.)
5. I think the tin is cute. (Though you could pour it into an old stick container as well.)
